For unrelated reasons, this winter has been a difficult season for several of you in this church, but with God’s help, your faith, and the prayers of this worshipping community, you/we have made it to Spring.
One encouraging thing for those of us who live in geographical regions where there are 4 seasons, is that as spring comes, we see new signs of life all around us. We have been through the winter – the cold and the bitter part of the year, times when we do not get enough light and/or exercise, and we begin to see signs of regrowth and new life. The days are longer and we don’t have to put so many layers on before we walk the dog. We can see and smell the change of the season that brings new energy and strength.
There is something theological about our 4 seasons that teach us about life. There are times when we are cold and isolated. There are times when we are reflective and take time off to regroup. There are times when we are ready to move on to some new adventure or new call. There are times when we just sit back and notice the beauty of nature. There are times when we are dormant, gaining strength for the coming season. There are times when we reflect and learn and times to move into action. Our 4 seasons remind us that life is filled with cycles of renewal.
As spring becomes more evident each day, we are reminded of our call to begin to move again. Through the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, we are given HOPE. We are reminded that we are called to action. We are called to reach out in service and care to ‘others’.
The Easter season shows us that our lives and the message of Christ fit together. There are times of suffering in this life, but in the big picture, those times are only fleeting, only a twinkling of an eye. The true message of the cross is one of HOPE and VICTORY – RENEWAL and STRENGTH.
We are beginning a new season … we are focused on the message of Easter and all that Jesus did for us. It is the ‘season’ to look at life ‘anew’. As this spring comes to full bloom, work to see what God has in store for you personally.
GOALS for the month of APRIL:
- Notice HOW God is giving you energy to continue the ‘good work’ that has been done here at the church and in the lives of each of you.
- In our worshipping community, search out ways we can use our gifts to serve God in new and different (creative) ways?
- Have eyes to see new opportunities in your life to be the hands and feet of Christ?
God Bless you as you strive to live out Christ’s direction in your lives.
