Summer is finally here. Our schedules have change. The days get longer. We get to see the sun more, and it is easy to see God’s hand at work with each new blossom that opens around us.
We have been through a long winter. There seems to be a collective ‘Western PA’ fatigue that comes with winters like this last one. There are lessons to learn from winter, and there are times of reflection that happen best on cold snowy nights, but we are in a different season now, and we have new things to view and experience: new lessons to learn and new places to see God.
Western Pennsylvania reminds us of the change of seasons of life (and the changes in the life of the church.) Things change and people change, sometimes that is a good thing, and sometimes those changes are difficult. As I look at our church family I see people dealing with those changes with grace and honor. That is NOT to say that those changes are easy, or that those changes are welcomed. Some of you have been through changes this year that have been difficult and you need time to breathe. Know that God is with you as you face each new day.
As we move into this next season (whether that is literally this Summer season – or whether it is the next season in your life) do that with the full knowledge that no matter what circumstance you experience, the triune God is with you.
God, the creator of the Universe, loves you and cares for you each day, in each season of your year and your life. Jesus (God incarnate) teaches you and guides you through the changing situations you face. The HOLY Spirit of Jesus, the HOLY Spirit of God, is your strength, your comfort, your wisdom, your hope, your defender, your advocate. This ‘three in One’ God is ‘in – thru – and around’ you through each season of your life, you just need to have eyes to see God’s presence throughout each day.
This is summer as your schedules changes …
Take some time each day to look for God’s hand in your life.
Listen to God’s word to you.
Notice the places you see God at work around you?
Begin each day looking for ways to live out your love for God.
Identify opportunities for you to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
As you journey through the summer months, may God bless you and keep you.
See you in church – remember our church is deepened by your presence.
