“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. AMEN” Ephesians 3: 20-21
October is a month of change. Leaves remind us of the different stages of life. Leaves change colors and trees begin the process of rest in order to regain strength and start the whole process over again in the spring. Our society is in a cycle of change right now. We are in a political election year and our country is in a state of unrest and change. Change is unsettling and fear filled.
We read in scripture of other times of fear throughout history and God is consistently encouraging human beings to ‘fear NOT’ for the Lord is with you.
In the month of October we are focusing on being ‘FEARLESS’ and will be concentrating on four areas in our lives in which we can practice being fearless.
Fearless Service: we are going to work on our individual mission statements, living out Christ’s call to each of us to live into our individual service to our Lord and to others.
- Fearless Living: identifying that God is with you always… do not FEAR! Scripture teaches us to live generously, teaching us to live without fearing those around us.
- Fearless Sowing: How do we sow seeds? We will focus on how we are using our time, talent, and treasure. It is a joy to use our gifts and this worshipping community has many gifts to offer.
- Fearless Giving: Fall is a time many churches form budgets and think about what it takes to ‘run’ a church. It is our privilege to give back a portion of what God has given us. It is strengthening and empowering to give financially. We have that privilege, and are invited to be a part of a larger plan. DO NOT BE AFRAID! Identify what you are able to offer, with joy and thanksgiving. Do not fear – financial giving is something that empowers — it does not make people feel bad or guilty. It is not a responsibility it is a privilege and an honor.
Blessings as we move into October with Fearless Generosity.
