This month is the final 4 weeks of Lent, ending with Easter on March 27th. We have been working to identify who Jesus is, in preparation for Resurrection Sunday. We have been reading the Gospels and identifying what people in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John say about Jesus. We have noted what Jesus says about himself, and we have been noticing Jesus actions. The purpose of this is to go through Lent and prepare for Easter.
We are working to learn more about Jesus and in turn learn about how we might be more like him. Our Lenten Studies are focused on understanding Jesus through our five senses. How do we understand Jesus through touch, sight, sounds, smells, and even taste. Everything we know, we know through at least one of our senses, so we are working to identify just how we can be more aware of Jesus around us and how we might live that out.
One of the exercises we are doing at our studies (which are on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 pm. at the church AND at my house [309 W. First St.] in the evenings 7:00-8:30 pm.) is to follow the questions below each day and notice God in our midst.
Please tear off the half sheet and follow along for the rest of the month. By the way you are welcome to join the Lenten Studies as any time. Please come – you will add to the group!
Practices during the season of Lent 2016:
- Where did you see God today?
- Where did you find yourself feeling grateful today?
- Where did you feel joy?
- What gave you energy this day?
- Where did you feel the presence of Christ?
- What ‘sense’ awakened the presence of God in the day for you?
